The United States has seen a significant rise in hot-rolled steel exports, with a 16.0% increase reported in April, according to the US Department of Commerce. The total exports for the month reached 77,213 tons, up 39.7% from the same period last year. In monetary terms, the value of these exports in April was $80.8 million, showing a marked increase from $67.7 million in March and $55.3 million in April of the previous year.
The primary market for these exports was Mexico, which imported 47,583 tons of hot-rolled steel in April, up from 40,021 tons in March and 36,810 tons in April last year. Canada was also a significant market, with imports amounting to 29,319 tons.
