US exports of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) coil increased by 9.6% in the first six months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
According to the data, the US exported a total of 778,416 tons of HDG coil from January to June in 2024. In the same period, the export volume in 2023 was recorded as 710,175 tons.
On a monthly basis, export volumes increased significantly in January, February, March and April 2024. Exports of 106,476 tons in January 2023 reached 133,658 tons in January 2024.
In May and June 2024, export volumes declined. In June 2024, exports fell by 2.9% to 120,302 tons.
In June 2024, Mexico became the largest importer of HDG to the US, increasing by 9.5% to 65,975.8 tons. Exports to Canada decreased by 19.7% to 53,423.2 tons in June 2024 and to Japan by 9.5% to 265.2 tons.
Exports to other countries totaled 637.4 tons in June 2024, up by 2.6% from June 2023.
Total US exports of HDG increased in the first half of 2024; however, exports to key markets such as Canada and Japan declined in June.
