According to official data, in the last week of January, crude steel production in the United States amounted to 1.64 million tons, with an increase of 0.9% compared to the same period of the previous week. Despite the increase in the rate, it decreased by 5.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. The capacity utilization rate was 73.1%, an increase of 0.6% y-o-y and a decrease of 6.7%.
Crude steel production in the U.S. decreased by 7% compared to last year to 6.45 million tons, while the capacity utilization rate was 72.1%.
