For the week ending May 11, production figures reached approximately 1.72 million net tons, showing a modest week-over-week increase of 0.4%. Despite this growth, the production is still down by 2.2% compared to the same week last year.
The capacity utilization rate stood at 77.2% for the week, slightly up from the previous week but still showing a decline of 0.7% year-over-year.
Looking at the year-to-date numbers, the production of crude steel in the U.S. has totaled around 32 million net tons, marking a decrease of 2.8% compared to the same period last year. The overall capacity utilization rate has also decreased to 76.3%, down 1.6% from last year.
