Steel production, which was 14,813 tons in the January-August period of 2022, decreased to 11,406 tons in the same period of 2023.
Crude steel production fell from 5,186 tons in 2022 to 4,032 tons, a decrease of 22.3% in the same period of 2023.
Rolled steel production also decreased from 4,477 tons to 3,466 tons, a decrease of 23.9% in the 8-month period. Pig iron production decreased from 5,150 tons in the January-August period of 2022 to 3,908 tons, a decrease of 24.1%.
While the seasonal slowdown in demand for Ukrainian steel products caused a decrease compared to the previous month, the lifting of the naval blockade imposed on ships carrying Ukrainian iron and steel products is considered an important step for the relief of Ukrainian steel exports.
