The Zaporizhzhya Ferroalloy Plant (ZPF) resumed production on 1 May this year after a shutdown since March 2023 due to persistently high electricity prices and low ferroalloy prices on the world market. This was announced by Pavel Kravchenko, chairman of the company's board of directors. The company is currently operating two furnaces, which is only 7% of its total capacity. Kravchenko explained that products are supplied to those with whom contracts have been signed.
Serhiy Kudryavtsev, Executive Director of the Association of Ferroalloy Producers of Ukraine, said that the Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant (NFP) is being considered for restart, while Pokrovsky GOK, Marganets GOK and Pobuzh Ferronickel Plant (PFZ) are idle. He also noted that the state of Ukraine's ferroalloy industry in 2024 will depend on three factors: artillery fire, logistics and electricity situation.
