According to the State Customs Service of Ukraine, Ukrainian steel producers showed significant growth in exports of flat-rolled products in January-June 2024. The total volume of exports increased by 178% compared to the same period in 2023 and amounted to 832.9 thousand tonnes.
In the January-June 2024 period, revenues from flat rolled product exports increased by 67.2% year-on-year to $515.42 million.
The bulk of exports came from hot-rolled flat products, which increased 3.1 times to 701.38 thousand tonnes. Significant quantities were sent to Poland (159.7 thousand tonnes), Bulgaria (172.7 thousand tonnes) and Italy (71.58 thousand tonnes).
Exports of cold-rolled flat products increased by 58.4% to 103.39 thousand tonnes, while exports of coated flat products rose 2.4 times to 25.92 thousand tonnes. The main exports of cold rolled flat products were to Poland with 37.26 thousand tonnes, Bulgaria with 13.43 thousand tonnes and Italy with 11.25 thousand tonnes.
Coated flat products were shipped to Poland (20.25 thousand tonnes), Romania (4.13 thousand tonnes) and Moldova (0.9 thousand tonnes).
In June this year, exports of flat rolled products from Ukraine increased by 8.5% compared to the previous month and by 27.2% compared to June 2023, reaching 156.4 thousand tonnes. Shipments of hot rolled flat products increased by 14.7% month-on-month and 51.9% year-on-year to 135.34 thousand tonnes. Cold-rolled flat products decreased by 24.7% month-on-month and 30.8% year-on-year to 16.81 thousand tonnes.
