Exciting time for innovation and transformation in the industry!
The UK is not only the birthplace of the industrial revolution, but also the place where the next chapter of the industry is being written. The speaker program will be the most comprehensive to date, covering the most important developments.
A seminar program with more than 100 practitioners will take place in 4 halls on the show floor. Seminars will focus on innovation, technology, supply management, circularity and sustainability, including the UK's transition from blast furnaces to Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) to decarbonize the industry and achieve Net Zero emissions.
Offering valuable insight into the future direction of the industry, these seminars will reveal innovations already in use, highlight rapid changes and reveal new business opportunities. This period will be a pivotal time for innovation and transformation in the metals sector, with significant implications for the UK's supply chain.
Speakers details from the program
Opening Day 1 will start with the Keynote Address, followed by panel discussions and engaging sessions. The event will cover a range of topics including the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), digital legislation, procurement of critical minerals, forecasting raw material prices, automation, remanufacturing, reuse and recycling best practices.
During Days 1 and 2, industry leaders from Tata Steel, Liberty Steel, British Steel and Celsa will discuss the UK's transition from blast furnaces to electric arc furnaces, explain the roadmap, dispel myths and share the experiences of those who made the switch decades ago.
Day 2 on September 12 will keep the momentum going with a focus on “Aluminum Production from Scrap”.
BCAST, Volvo Cars and Frog Bikes will provide fascinating insights, examining the latest research findings, current commercial applications and the scalability challenges ahead.
As one of the highlights of day two, the “Meet the Funders” networking session provides an excellent opportunity for companies and projects seeking investment to engage directly with funders willing to support impactful initiatives. With representatives from key institutions such as Innovate UK, NatWest, ATI, Zinc VC, APC and Scottish Enterprise, participants will gain valuable insights into what funders are looking for and learn how to pitch their proposals effectively.
Returning by popular demand, Construction Day on September 12 provides a platform for industry leaders to explore the innovative use of metals in sustainable construction. With an estimated 29 million homes needing to be retrofitted with low-carbon solutions for the UK to reach its net zero emissions target by 2050, Construction Day will offer significant business opportunities. Part of the event will see the launch of a new system and marketplace for retrofit, open to both existing and new delivery partners. Topics will include lightweight structures, low-carbon retrofits, modular building systems and off-site fabrication. Construction Day aims to address rising construction costs.
