Türkiye's wire rod imports increased by 82% in January-July 2023 compared to the same period of 2022, rising from 323,942 tons to 592,611 tons, according to data from the Turkish Steel Producers' Association.
In terms of budget, this figure increased by 36% to $460,191 in January-July 2023 from $338,267 in January-July 2022.
Among the leading countries in Türkiye's wire rod imports, Russia ranked first with an increase of 62.8% to 158,262 tons in the same period of 2023. In January-July 2022, 97,225 tons of imports were realized.
In the 7-month period, the biggest increase came from Egypt
In the 7-month period, the biggest increase in imports came from Egypt with 398.225%. 95,598 tons of imports were made from Egypt, which imported 24 tons in January-July 2022, in the same period of this year.
The country with the lowest import rate was recorded as the Netherlands. While 2,238 tons were imported from the Netherlands in the same period of last year, 787 tons of imports were realized in the same period of this year with a 68.8% decrease. In terms of budget, while the amount of imports realized from the Netherlands in 2022 was $ 2,680, this figure decreased by 69.9 percent to $ 807.
However, in the January-July period between 2022 and 2023, Turkey's wire rod imports increased by 82% from 323,942 tons to 592,611 tons.
