Türkiye's scrap imports increased by 0.5% in the January-July period

Türkiye's scrap imports in July 2024 decreased by 15.4% y/y, but increased by 17% m/m.

Türkiye's scrap imports increased by 0.5% in the January-July period

According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Türkiye's scrap imports in July 2024 decreased by 15.4% y/y, dropping from 1,888,081 tons to 1,597,329 tons. However, compared to the previous month (June), imports increase by 17%.

Total scrap imports for the January-July period increased by 0.5%, reaching 11,551,241 tons compared to 11,497,629 tons in the same period last year.

Türkiye imported the most scrap from the EU-27 in the mentioned month. Scrap imports from the EU-27 reached 797,108 tons, followed by the US with 345,201 tons, the United Kingdom with 250,979 tons, Russia with 78,179 tons, and Venezuela with 42,280 tons.
