According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, Turkiye's iron ore imports decreased by 32% in the first seven months of this year compared to the previous year and amounted to approximately 4.2 million tonnes. These imports were valued at around USD 537 million, down 43% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Among them, imports from Brazil were up 21% y-o-y to around 2.91 million tonnes, followed by 655,000 tonnes from Sweden and 333,000 tonnes from Ukraine.
In July alone, Turkiye imported a total of 635,000 tonnes of iron ore, down 12% on month and 5.4% on year. The value of imports fell by 27 per cent m-o-m and 39 per cent y-o-y to USD 73.9 million.
