According to the information compiled by SteelRadar from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, Türkiye's hot rolled sheet metal (HRC) imports in January 2024 increased by 30.3% compared to the same month of the previous year, rising from 319,293 tons to 415,935 tons.
This figure increased by 122.5% compared to the previous month, December 2023. The import figure in December was 186,832 tons.
The country from which Türkiye imported the most HRC was China with 166,706 tons, while imports from China increased by 200.1% compared to the same month of the previous year. While Egypt, which ranked second, imported 99,185 tons in January, this figure increased by 314.8%. Imports from Japan, which ranks third in the import rankings, increased by 235.8% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The country where Türkiye experienced the most remarkable decrease in HRC import chart was Russia. While 90,398 tons were imported from Russia in January 2023, this figure decreased to 3,494 tons in the same month of this year.
