According to the data of the World Steel Association (Worldsteel), global crude steel production in May decreased by 5.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, to 161.6 million tons.
Worldsteel reported that China's crude steel production decreased by 7.3 percent to 90.1 million tons.
In the same month, India's production increased by 4.1 percent to 11.2 million tons, Japan's production decreased by 5.2 percent to 7.6 million tons, and the US production decreased by 2.3 percent to 6.9 million tons. Russia's production increased by 8.8 percent to 6.8 million tons.
German crude steel production in May of this year was 3.28 million tons, up 0.2 percent year on year. In January-May this year, the country's crude steel production decreased by 4.7 percent year on year to 15.60 million tons.
Turkey's production, on the other hand, decreased by 10.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and remained at the level of 2.9 million tons.
In the first 5 months of the year, global crude steel production decreased by 1.2 percent to 786.0 million tons, while Turkey's production decreased by 19.1 percent to 13.0 million tons.
