Türkiye sets an export target of USD 575 billion for 2028

Mustafa Gültepe, President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), announced that Türkiye's total export target for 2028 is USD 575 billion.

Türkiye sets an export target of USD 575 billion for 2028

Gültepe, who met with Mediterranean exporters in Mersin, emphasized that the export target for this year is set at USD 280 billion and that growth should continue at double-digit rates.

Türkiye's Goal of Moving to the Top 10

Speaking at the “TIM Regional Export Meetings Mersin Meeting” organized at the Mediterranean Exporters' Associations (AKİB) in Mersin, Gültepe pointed out that Türkiye should be among the top 10 countries in the world ranking in exports. “We have a total export target of USD 575 billion, USD 375 billion in goods and USD 200 billion in services. However, in order to reach these targets, export increases must continue at double-digit rates.”

Gültepe stated that in order for Türkiye to exceed the current export figures of USD 262 billion, production capacity should be increased and new investments should be accelerated. “We are making these figures. We need to increase our production and make new investments so that we can achieve the USDT 375 billion target.”

The Syrian Market is Critical for the Region

Speaking at the meeting, AKİB Coordinator President Fatih Doğan stated that the development of trade relations with Syria will contribute positively to the exports of the region. Doğan stated, “The removal of restriction lists in Türkiye's customs area in export and transit transactions to Syria, Syria's relaxation of import bans and the reduction of customs duties on 259 products for Türkiye are important steps. We expect the Türkiye-Syria Free Trade Agreement, which was suspended in 2011, to be reactivated with a more comprehensive economic partnership approach.”
