Türkiye offers a large market for Italian metalworking and casting technology companies

Marco Pintus, Director of the Italian Foreign Trade and Promotion Agency (ITA), said that Türkiye, as the second largest casting producer in Europe and the seventh largest in the world, offers a wide market for Italian companies.

Türkiye offers a large market for Italian metalworking and casting technology companies

The International Iron-Steel, Casting, Non-Ferrous Metallurgy Technologies, Machinery and Products Specialization Fair (Ankiros) opened its doors for the 16th time at the Istanbul Expo Center with the main theme of "Sustainable Metallurgy and Innovative Technologies".

While ITA is present at Ankiros 2024 with its 13 members, there are more than 60 Italian companies in total at the fair

ITA Director Pintus stated that the trade relations between Italy and Türkiye have been strong and balanced for many years, and reminded that the trade volume between the two countries reached 27.3 billion dollars in 2023.

Pintus said, "This figure is expected to exceed 30 billion dollars by the end of 2024. The metallurgical sector has an important place in bilateral relations. Türkiye, as the second largest casting producer in Europe and the seventh largest in the world, offers a wide market for Italian metalworking and casting technology companies. Türkiye's production capacity in this sector creates an opportunity for Italian companies to contribute with high quality and advanced technology products."

"The fair is of great importance in terms of increasing metallurgical cooperation between Italy and Türkiye"

Marco Pintus noted that Italy's strengths in the metallurgical sector include a deep-rooted history, advanced technology and competitive products in global markets.

Stating that the prominent elements in trade with Türkiye are quality, flexibility and sharing of technological innovations, Pintus said that Italian companies use these competitive advantages by taking part in major projects in Türkiye.

Pintus drew attention to the fact that there has been a significant increase in metallurgy trade between Türkiye and Italy in recent years and said, "In 2023, Türkiye's metallurgy export value reached 7 billion euros and this situation contributed to gaining a strong position in international markets with high quality standards in the sector. One of the most important reasons for this increase is the interest of Turkish companies in Italian technology and the fact that Italian companies are more focused on the Turkish market."

Also touching on the Ankiros Fair, Pintus emphasized that the fair is of great importance in terms of increasing metallurgy cooperation between Italy and Türkiye.

Pintus stated that the fair offers the opportunity to access the Middle East, Central Asia and European markets and continued as follows:

"It provides Italian companies with the opportunity to meet with Turkish sector professionals and establish new business connections. More than 60 Italian companies that will participate in Ankiros this year aim to take steps towards stronger collaborations with Türkiye by exhibiting innovations in casting machines and technologies. In addition to offering new business opportunities for sector professionals, Ankiros Fair is an important platform in terms of following technological developments and strengthening collaborations. The strategic importance of this fair for Italian companies is based on the access it provides to Türkiye's large casting production capacity. Italy's high-tech solutions can contribute to more efficient and high-quality production processes in Türkiye's growing sectors."

"Italian companies' interest in Turkish casting products is at high levels"

ITA Director Pintus stated that international fairs play an important role in strengthening Türkiye's global position in the metallurgical sector, and said that events such as Ankiros showcase Türkiye's potential in the sector at an international level, attracting the attention of global players and increasing cooperation opportunities.

Pintus said, "Italian companies have the opportunity to take solid steps in the Turkish market and establish strong partnerships at these fairs. Italian companies' interest in Turkish casting products is at high levels. One of the main reasons for this interest is Turkey's high production capacity and product diversity. The cooperation potential between the two countries may increase especially in the areas of technology transfer and R&D. Italian companies can establish strategic partnerships with Turkish companies by offering casting technologies and efficient production solutions."

Pintus emphasized that the importance of innovation in the metallurgical sector is increasing day by day, and stated that there are great opportunities in the areas of technology transfer and R&D collaborations between Italy and Türkiye.

Pintus added that when Italy's advanced technology and R&D capacity are combined with Türkiye's production power, innovative solutions in the sector will accelerate and provide the opportunity for trade between the two countries to deepen.
