Türkiye is accelerating its international collaborations in green energy activities.During the Türkiye-Spain Eighth Intergovernmental Summit held as part of President Erdoğan's visit to Spain, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Spain's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenges Teresa Ribera Rodríguez signed the Energy Transformation Memorandum of Understanding.
In a social media post about his meeting with Rodríguez, Minister Bayraktar stated, "We discussed the collaborations we can develop in renewable energy, green hydrogen, hydrocarbons, and mining fields between our countries."
The aim is sustainable economic development
The agreement aims to deepen cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries, creating a common ground to achieve sustainable economic development goals. It involves key areas of energy transformation such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon emission trading, energy storage, hydrogen technologies, and critical minerals.
Exchange of information between the two countries
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, joint projects will be developed between public institutions and the private sector, and steps will be taken towards sharing interests and experiences. In addition, capacity-building initiatives and joint working groups will be established. This will facilitate information exchange on energy policies, regulations, and standards between the two countries.
