According to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute ( TUIK), Turkey's wire rod imports in May were at the highest level in the January-June period. The 21% decrease in June had a significant impact on wire rod imports.
In June, Turkey's wire rod imports increased by 140% compared to January, 38% compared to February, decreased by 17% compared to March, increased by 36% compared to April and decreased by 21% compared to May to 92,180 tons.
In April, Turkey's wire rod imports from Malaysia increased by 67% from 15 thousand tons to 25 thousand tons compared to March.
On the other hand, Turkey's wire rod imports from Malaysia decreased by 40% in May compared to April and returned to the March level (15 thousand tons). In June, compared to May, Turkey's wire rod imports increased by 136% to a record high of 36 thousand tons, climbing from 2nd to 1st place!
Thus, Turkey's wire rod imports from Malaysia in the January-June period reached its highest level in June.
In June, Turkey's wire rod imports from Russia increased by a record 201% compared to May, from 5 thousand tons to 16 thousand tons!
Turkey's wire rod imports from Russia decreased in April compared to January, February and March.
In May, Russian imports decreased by 70% compared to April to 5 thousand tons.
Turkey's wire rod imports from Spain increased by 13% to 10 thousand tons in June compared to the previous month
Spain's wire rod exports to Turkey increased by a record 105% in April compared to March, from 8 thousand tons to 15 thousand tons.
Turkey's wire rod imports from Spain decreased by 45% to 9 thousand tons in May compared to April.
Egypt and South Korea ranked 4th and 5th in Turkey's wire rod imports
While corn ranked 3rd with 6 thousand tons in February, it increased by 210% to 19 thousand tons in March. In April, it decreased by a record 73% compared to March to 5 thousand tons, and in May it increased by 567% (28 thousand 980 tons) to 34 thousand tons. In June, it fell by a record 84% to 5 thousand tons.
Turkey's wire rod imports from South Korea increased by 63% in February to 1,376 tons from 845 tons in January. In March, it increased by (11,441 tons) to 13,000 tons, while in April it decreased by 86% to 2,000 tons. In May, it increased by (9 thousand 275 tons) to 11 thousand tons and approached the March figure. In June, it decreased by 51% compared to May to 5 thousand tons.
