Turkey's iron and steel sector recovers, the progress of production is accelerating
After the earthquake, while relief works in the region continue, producers mobilized for their staff and relatives. While the doors of the mills were opened for sheltering and basic needs this time, after the deep suffering, the work on employment protection and the needs in the region accelerated. Most importantly, they mobilized to the needs of the region, opened their factories, dining halls and lodgements to the earthquake victims, and sent their construction machinery to rescue works together with the operators. And they gave many more supports. Manufacturers related to these continued their support without advertising.
In other regions, iron and steel plants, which were not affected by the earthquake, provided technical support to their colleagues and sent technical teams, except for the aid they sent from Izmir and Istanbul and Karabük.
IRON AND STEEL COMPANIES ARE RECOVERING WITH GREAT DEVOTION
Some producers who were struck with the earthquake with molten steel in the ladles continue to work intensively for reproduction. In order for molten steel to restore after freezing, significant labor is required. According to information from market representatives, all preparations are almost finished. In the region, Baştuğ Metalurji started to work with almost full capacity.
Tosçelik is recovering in production, Koç Metalurji started to work as of February 24.
It is foreseen that Ekinciler Demir Çelik will start production as of next week.
Yazıcı Demir Çelik is expected to start production at the beginning of March.
MMK Metallurgy has started, but the smelter is not yet working. It is known that sheet metal processing facilities related to imported sheets operate. There is no clear decision yet on which day the smelting will begin.
Of course, the sorrows of the teams in the whole sector continue, but efforts continue to protect employment in order to hold on to life. Gradually, each manufacturer and their teams are trying to recover.
