Turkey's billet imports hit a record high in the first quarter of 2023!

Turkish Steel Producers Association announced the data for March. Accordingly, Turkey's billet imports increased in March.

In January 2023, Turkey's billet imports increased by 69% to 341,818 tons compared to the same month of the previous year. In February 2023, Turkey's billet imports increased by 26% y-o-y to 252,614 tons.

In March 2023, Turkey's billet imports increased by a record 294% compared to the same month last year, reaching approximately 381,569 tons.

In March 2022, Turkey's billet imports decreased by 51.6% compared to February 2022 and by 52% compared to January 2022 to 96 thousand 741 tons.

In the first quarter of 2023, Turkey's billet imports increased by 95.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, from 499 thousand tons to 976 thousand tons.

Turkey's billet imports in March 2023 increased by 51% compared to February and by 11.6% compared to January to approximately 381,600 tons. According to the assessments, the largest increase in billet imports in the first quarter of 2023 was realized in March.
