Turkey may be the green hydrogen supplier of Germany

At the meeting held in Istanbul, priorities in green hydrogen production, current situation, short-term goals and cooperation opportunities were discussed. Green Hydrogen Producers Association (H2DER) President Yusuf Günay, emphasizing the necessity of walking in cooperation, said, “It is pleasing to see Germany's interest and support for Turkey. Our potential in renewable energy is also our most valuable advantage in green hydrogen production. Public determination and the disclosure of our hydrogen strategy accelerate our efforts. Among our members are the most important companies of both Turkey and the world. The world has entered the hydrogen age. Of course, there is much missing. From production to equipment, from pricing to legislation, we work together to eliminate these deficiencies. The fact that Germany sees Turkey as a valuable stakeholder will accelerate the sector.”

German hydrogen industry stakeholders will meet in Germany

Indicating that Turkey is one of the leading countries in the field of hydrogen, Günay listed the decisions taken at the meeting and the priorities to be done as follows;

“T.C. As long as there is a deputy minister in charge of "hydrogen" in our Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, it will gain a lot of momentum. We can be the most valuable supplier for the hydrogen needs of Germany and the EU. Therefore, we should be among the MENA countries seen in this context. Turkey's pipelines should also be integrated into the "European Backbone" mapping, in which the pipelines of the EU are shown. A pipeline for pure green hydrogen should be considered. Training programs for the hydrogen sector will be organized in cooperation with the structures of the German Ministry of Economy and Climate. German hydrogen industry stakeholders will come together in Germany, and incentives will be provided for investments and business partnerships in Turkey.”

Head of Department of Financial Instruments and Hydrogen Initiatives, German Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection, Dr. Christian Storost expressed that he was very pleased to meet with the members of H2DER. Dr. Storost stated that the meeting was very productive and that they were ready for cooperation and support in solving the questions and problems that came to the fore at the meeting.
