Turkey is 6th among the countries exporting the most steel to the EU!

According to Eurofer data, South Korea ranked first in the EU's steel imports from non-EU countries in the January-March period of 2023.

South Korea is the largest exporter of steel to the EU, followed by China, Taiwan, Japan, India and Turkey in 6th place.

South Korea exported 686,891 tons of steel in the first quarter and had the largest share in EU steel imports.

China and Taiwan came close to South Korea in EU steel exports and ranked 2nd and 3rd.

China exported 565,156 tons of steel in the January-March 2023 period.

In the 2023 January-March period, Japan and India competed in the steel exports to the EU, with Japan and India exporting 480 thousand 821 tons and 480 thousand 60 tons, respectively.

Turkey exported 444 thousand 175 tons of steel to the EU in the January-March 2023 period. It ranked 6th among the top 15 countries.

2023 January-March period steel exports of the United Kingdom, Vietnam, Egypt and Ukraine to the EU were 279 thousand 862 tons, 277 thousand 819 tons, 270 thousand 793 tons and 178 thousand 315 tons, respectively.

Serbia, Indonesia, Algeria, Brazil and Malaysia ranked last among the top 15

In 2022, Malaysia proved that it has advanced its steel production in 2022 by exporting 353,385 tons of steel, up from 34,362 tons in the previous year.

In the first quarter of 2023, it exported 107,582 tons of steel to the EU, and by the end of 2023, its annual steel exports are likely to exceed the 2022 figure.

Malaysia is one of the few countries to make it into the top 15.
