Turkey, which ranks seventh in the world in steel production, increased Ukrainian pig iron imports by 26.7% per month. According to the data, between January and November 2022, Ukraine's imports to Turkish steel producers decreased by 50.3% annually. Ukraine's war played a huge role in reducing rates. Turkish steel enterprises reduced their pig iron imports by 69.8% to 15.2 thousand tons compared to November 2021. Compared to the previous month, this increased by 26.7%.
Turkey's imports to Russia, the main supplier of pig iron, increased by 53.6% in 2022 to 782.68 thousand tons, while Brazil reached 251.2 tons.
In 2022, the pig iron production of Ukrainian steel producers decreased by 69.8% to 6.39 million tons. In December, compared to December of the previous year, pig iron production decreased by 85.7% to 247 thousand tons.
