SSAB Zero™ steel is made using recycled steel and fossil-free energy, which eliminates carbon emissions from the production process. It also provides a 77% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to iron ore-based steel.
Toyota is the first material handling equipment manufacturer to use SSAB Zero™. This step significantly contributes to Toyota Material Handling Europe's efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2041.
By collaborating with SSAB, the company aims to promote sustainable transformation in its value chain while strengthening the resilience of its supply chain.
Tony Harris, Head of SSAB Europe stated: “We are happy to work with Toyota in producing the next generation of material handling equipment with a lower carbon footprint. Toyota Material Handling Europe has been our customer via our subsidiary, Tibnor, for over 20 years, and we are ramping up our collaboration based on our mutual trust and common goal of a fossil-free future,”
Giorgio Polonio, Vice President of Purchasing and Supply at Toyota Material Handling Europe, added, “We aim to be a leader in the sustainable transformation of our value chain and are building a resilient supply chain together with our suppliers.”
