TIM will build a total of 1000 container and prefabricated housing units in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Adiyaman and Malatya, which are among the centers where the greatest destruction was experienced during the earthquake.
TIM Chairman Mustafa Gültepe made statements on the subject
He stated that Turkey was facing an earthquake disaster of an unprecedented magnitude before. He continued his explanation as follows;
"We have started an aid mobilization for the region with our 61 exporters' association under the leadership of TIM and under the coordination of AFAD. At the first stage, we made a shipment of emergency necessities, especially blankets, clothes, shoes, food supplies, baby food. In the continuation, we continue the shipment of aid materials in accordance with the need lists updated by AFAD. To date, we have sent hundreds of trucks full of relief materials to our disaster areas. It is of great importance to meet the temporary housing needs of earthquake victims in harsh winter conditions.
As the export family, we are also assuming responsibility in this regard and we are implementing the TIM Container & Prefabricated Housing Project. We will build a thousand container and prefabricated houses in the first stage in Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Gaziantep and Malatya, where the earthquake caused the most destruction. We will deliver prefabricated houses with a container of 21 square meters and a size of Jul 30 square meters with electricity, clean water and waste water infrastructure ready.
In the first place, we will meet the living units of the houses where about 5 thousand earthquake victims will be housed as TIM. We know that shelter is vital for earthquake victims in harsh winter conditions. That's why we're going to move very quickly. God willing, we will start the delivery of housing from the third week of March, that is, a month later."
Solving the housing problem is important for normalization
Gültepe stated that providing a solution to the problem of temporary housing is vital for normalization in the region and continued his words as follows:
"We have to make efforts for the adaptation of earthquake victims to normal life. We should activate factories and enterprises and ensure that our citizens return to working life in their regions again. This is extremely important both for our region and for Turkey. We are planning to position container and prefabricated houses next to organized industrial zones in order to facilitate the life of our people. As an export family, we will be in an effort to do our part more than enough in the coming period, as we have been until today. Our hearts will continue to beat with our earthquake victims."
