The new production line streamlines NGO electrical steel production and provides material for energy efficient motors. With an annual capacity of 200,000 tons, steel strips with a thickness of 0.20-1.00 mm can be processed, while this technology provides a solution for energy efficient motors by producing high quality electrical steel sheets. Under the modernization, the rolling mill with reversing stand was completed and the inspection line was commissioned. In 2026, it was announced that a finishing line for special cuts will be commissioned.
Dr. Harald Espenhahn, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe, emphasized: “The successful commissioning of this state-of-the-art production line underlines the effective collaboration between our teams.” “This plant not only represents a major step forward in our production capacities, but also enables us to produce high-quality NGO steels that allow our customers to meet the changing demands of the market and develop energy-efficient products.”
COO Europe of SMS Group, Simone Scheidgen, added: "The cooperation with thyssenkrupp Steel Europe has once again proven to be a positive experience of collaborative partnership. The synergy between our teams has resulted in a facility that meets our common goals of technological progress and sustainability."
SMS group's new production line not only enables thyssenkrupp Steel Europe to achieve its strategic goals, but also drives a sustainable future by promoting the development of environmentally friendly and innovative materials.
