ArcelorMittal has named Thomas Bünger as the new CEO of its German coil mills. Starting February 1, 2024, Bünger will lead the Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt facilities and will take over from the previous CEO, Reiner Blaschek. Blaschek has been assigned as CEO of the flat steel business in Europe and will assume responsibility for the Germany division of ArcelorMittal Europe - Flat Products. It was also announced that Blaschek will become chairman of the board of directors of ArcelorMittal Germany Holding at some future point.
Previously CEO of London-based First Tin, Thomas Bünger held various key positions in operations and technology at Aurubis in Hamburg. He was educated at the Mining Institute in St. Petersburg and the Institute for Non-Ferrous Metallurgy and High Purity Materials at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
