The World Steel Association's 14th Steelie Awards shortlist announced: Here are the nominees!

The Steelie Awards are presented in six main categories, each category celebrating outstanding achievements and innovations in the industry's field. Candidates and categories are as follows:

Excellence in Low Carbon Steel Production:

This category honors companies that contribute to low carbon emissions in steel production. Candidates include Aço Verde do Brasil, ArcelorMittal, China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited, Emirates Steel, HBIS Group Co., Ltd. and POSCO Holdings.

Innovation of the Year:

This category focuses on companies that provide innovative products, technologies or processes to the steel industry. Candidates include companies such as Ansteel Group Corporation Limited, China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited, JFE Steel Corporation, United States Steel Corporation and voestalpine AG.

Excellence in Sustainability:

This category rewards companies working on environmentally friendly production processes or sustainability projects. Candidates include companies such as China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited, JSW Steel Limited, Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC), POSCO Holdings and Ternium.

Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment:

This category celebrates companies that work to reduce the environmental impact of their products. Candidates include companies such as Baotou Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd, China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited, China Steel Corporation (CSC), CITIC PACIFIC Special Steel Group Co., Ltd, JSW Steel and POSCO Holdings.

Excellence in Education and Training:

This category recognizes companies that develop educational programs or innovations for their employees or communities. Candidates include companies such as China Baowu Steel Group Corporation, Gerdau SA, JFE Steel Corporation, JSW Steel, POSCO Holdings, Tata Steel, and Ternium.

Excellence in Communication Programs:

This category recognizes communications programs from companies that promote the steel industry or engage with communities. Candidates include companies such as ArcelorMittal, Gerdau SA, JSW Steel Limited, POSCO Holdings, Tata Steel, Tenaris, and the United States Steel Corporation.

The selection process for the shortlist differs for each category and applications are solicited by the worldsteel committee. It is then evaluated by selected expert panels. Winners will be announced on next Monday, October 16.
