The US accused Vietnam of circumventing duties on Indian pipes

The US Department of Commerce announced the results of an investigation into the import of certain sizes of welded pipe made in India.

The US accused Vietnam of circumventing duties on Indian pipes

It was alleged that Indian companies are circumventing the US anti-dumping duties on these products in the amount of 87.93%.

Vietnamese companies produce such pipes with outside diameters ranging from 0.375 to 16 inches (9.5 to 404.6 mm) using Indian hot-rolled steel and then supply them to the United States, the ministry said. According to American practice, this precisely means bypassing the duty.

At the same time, it was established that the Vietnamese company Vietnam Haiphong Hongyuan Machinery Manufactory did not supply these pipes to the United States in 2017-2021, which were considered during the investigation.

Indian companies practically stopped supplying hot-rolled steel to Vietnam in 2023 due to prices on the local market being too low for them.
