The bilateral trade volume between Turkey and the Republic of South Africa increased by 60% last year, reaching 3.29 billion dollars. South Africa, Turkey's fifth largest trading partner in the African continent, set a new record in the trade volume between the two countries last year, reaching a trade rate of 3.29 billion dollars.
The trade volume was 2.05 billion dollars at the end of 2021 and increased by 60% to reach 3.29 billion dollars. Based on these figures, the bilateral trade figure with South Africa surpassed 3 billion dollars in 2022. In December-January 2022, Turkey's exports to South Africa increased by 98%, while imports from this country increased by 32%.
According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), the import value of primary metals showed a monthly increase, reaching 501.70 million dollars in March of this year. Looking at export values, there was a 17.2% y-o-y increase in January-March, reaching 3.09 billion dollars.
