Established in 1992, Güney Çelik, which has become an important company in the iron and steel industry, has stopped production at its facilities in Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone due to financial problems in the last two years. By exporting to 72 countries on 6 continents, the company achieved a leading position in the sector.
Güney Çelik, which had 800 employees two years ago, continuously scaled down the number of employees to 250-300 people due to the problems it faced. It is stated that the company, which has not been able to pay salaries for two months, is suffering from financial difficulties and has stopped production.
Güney Çelik, one of Türkiye's largest industrial enterprises, ranked 387th in 2020, 298th in 2021 and 314th in 2022. As part of the Istanbul-based Arsan Group, the company had an R&D Center that operated in various sectors and produced products such as wire mesh, rebar, and galvanized wire, etc.
The workers at the company's Adana facility have been struggling to receive their salaries for the past two months and have been protesting in front of the factory. Expressing that they and their families are in a difficult situation, the workers are demanding that the problem be resolved and that they return to work. In a statement, Güney Çelik indicated that they are working to resolve the process and that they expect patience and understanding from all shareholders. However, it remains uncertain if a clear solution to the workers' demands has been offered.
