In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony held in the European Free Zone (ASB), Tekirdağ Governor Aziz Yıldırım reminded that Tekirdağ is an important industrial city.
Pointing out that the city has become an industrial base, Yıldırım said, "Production continues in 13 organised industrial zones and the European Free Zone in Tekirdağ, these zones provide added value to Turkey's economy. We have very serious production, we have very serious exports. We also make a great contribution to Turkey's employment. We have 141 companies and factories from 36 foreign countries and their number is increasing day by day."
Yıldırım underlined that Tekirdağ is a city preferred by investors and wished that the factory whose foundation was laid would be beneficial.
"Trade volume in ASB has exceeded 3.5 billion dollars"
Kemal Şahin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Şahinler Holding, the Founder and Operator of ASB, stated that ASB, one of the most important technology and industry projects of Turkey, was established on a 2 million square metre land.
Stating that ASB ranks second in terms of trade volume among the 21 free zones established in Turkey, Şahin said, "The trade volume in ASB, where production is carried out with advanced technology in different sectors such as aircraft, automotive sub-industry, chemistry, packaging, metal, plastic, textile and food, has exceeded 3.5 billion dollars."
Emphasising that nearly 200 companies, 70 percent of which have foreign capital, export to 170 countries in ASB, Şahin stated that they have created a "Slikon Valley" in Thrace.
"The size of the investment is 40 million euros"
Şahin stated that Mubea Aviation company, which started its operations in 2015, has established a new factory to produce aircraft parts from carbon fibre material and gave the following information about the company:
"Mubea Aviation will increase its production capacity from 4 thousand square metres closed area to 12 thousand square metres with this facility. Thus, Mubea Aviation aims to produce composite parts with very valuable technology, which is not available in Turkey, for the first time in ASB, and the size of this new aviation investment will be 40 million euros.
The number of employees will increase over 250 people with the investment. 50 million euros turnover target. In addition, as the second phase, high-tech composite parts will be produced by building another 10 thousand square metres closed area in the future. Here, we once again see the importance of our projects to expand our free zone or establish a new free zone. "
Şahin wished Mubea Aviation, which has 55 factories worldwide, that their new investments would be beneficial.
ASB Manager Eyüp Daşkın stated that every investment made makes them happy and the companies in the region are growing day by day.

Stefan Koch, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mubea Aviation Aviation, stated that he was happy to be in co-operation.
Explaining that the annual turnover of the family-owned company is 3 billion euros, Koch said, "Our number of employees will increase to 250 with our investment of 40 million euros in the region. Mubea will grow even more here. We will triple our production. For the first time in Turkey, we will produce composite aircraft parts here in ASB. We found a very good opportunity in Turkey. The people of the region have quality labour force."
After the speeches, the foundation of the factory was laid. The factory is expected to start production in the first quarter of 2024.
