The ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector exported $14.4 billion

Çetin Tecdelioğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals Exporters' Association (IDDMIB), said, "We managed to increase our exports to the level of 14.4 billion dollars with an increase of 16.4 percent (in 2022)."

The ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector exported $14.4 billion

Tecdelioğlu, whose views were included in the statement made by the IDDMIB, expressed that they have overcame difficulties this year in every sense. Despite this, Tecdelioğlu stated that they are trying to contribute more to the country while developing exports with the studies they are doing. And he said, "Tecdelioğlu, whose views were included in the statement made by the IDDMIB, expressed that they have overcame difficulties this year in every sense. Despite this, Tecdelioğlu stated that they are trying to contribute more to the country while developing exports with the studies they are doing, and said, "We managed to increase our exports to the level of 14.4 billion dollars with an increase of 16.4 percent (in 2022). If it were not for the developments experienced around the world in 2022, we could have increased our exports more and exceeded the level of 15 billion dollars. We will continue to pull out all the stops to increase our exports in 2023 as well. We estimate that we will be able to increase our exports by 15 percent in 2023. However, we can also increase this rate to 25-30 percent levels. We can amount our exports to higher levels in a while. As a sector, we have some expectations for this increase."

Tecdelioğlu stated that if the sector is supported in 2023, they will be able to increase their exports to much higher levels at once, and that they have created a 4-article plan in this context, and continued as follows:

"Firstly, our sector has made a very serious capacity investment. We want to use this capacity and sell what we produce. We also need an energy tariff for this. "Firstly, our sector has made a very serious capacity investment. We want to use this capacity and sell what we produce. For this we also need an energy tariff. We are requesting a special energy tariff for our sector. A second issue is that the establishment of logistics warehouses in European countries will be of great benefit. Thanks to these warehouses, we can deliver our products to buyers faster. The third issue is that there is a need for LME warehouses to be established in Turkey, especially for strategic products such as aluminum and copper. Thus, transportation to products that are strategic for our country will be facilitated. Another of our expectations as exporters is to increase the number of countries that have signed the FTA as soon as possible. As IDDMIB, we expect the FTA to be signed quickly with Latin American countries, the USA and Algeria. These countries have very serious opportunities for our products. If these expectations of ours are realized, we can increase our exports quickly and contribute much more to the achievement of our country's goals."

The sector became the 6th among the most exporting industrial sectors.

According to the information given in the statement, the sector received a 5.7 percent share from the general export with an export of 14.4 billion dollars in the January-December 2022 period ranked 6th in the ranking of the most exporting among the industrial sectors.

During the period in question, the unit export price of the ferrous and non-ferrous metals sector reached $4.6 per kilogram with an increase of 14.6 percent compared to the previous year's period.

The country with the most exports in 2022 was Germany with an increase of 26 percent compared to the same period last year. Exports to Germany last year reached $2 billion.

1 billion dollars were exported to Italy in the second place and 947 million dollars were exported to the USA in the third place.
