"We are aware of the importance of the finance and banking sector for green transformation"
Alpaslan Çakar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Banks Association of Turkey, stated that they have come together with their members on many platforms, believing in the power of cooperation for green transformation, and added: "Since 2009, we have a Sustainability Working Group that guides our members to manage sustainability issues systematically in their lending processes and other banking transactions. Our Association closely follows the national and international agenda on sustainable development, combating climate change and climate finance and carries out coordination activities. With our first Sustainability Report, which we have prepared as an output of our sustainability-oriented activities, we present our Association's approach to our stakeholders."
Stating that the Association mainly contributes directly to 6 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and indirectly to all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Çakar said, "We aim to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals by addressing sustainability not only in environmental but also in all social and governance dimensions.
