During the event that started with promotional videos, Prof. Dr. Refik Polat, the Rector of Karabük University, said, "I hope this congress will be a great one with beautiful studies presented and knowledge exchanged."
Prof. Dr. Yavuz Sun, the Director of Karabük University's Iron and Steel Institute, stated that 81 papers were submitted to the symposium, saying, "26 of these 81 papers were sent to us by 8 different sector representatives, and the rest were sent by academics from 16 different universities to our symposium. We also have 4 international submissions. These numbers show that the Iron and Steel Symposium has gained a reputation throughout Turkey, and has become a symposium that everyone knows about and strives to participate in."
After the speeches, the symposium, which will last for 3 days and where participants presented their papers, was attended by Deputy Governor Muhittin Gürel, the President of Karabük Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Fatih Çapraz, academics, public institution managers, representatives of civil society organizations, sector representatives, invited speakers, and students.
