The 403 Steel Symposium recently convened under the theme “Existing and Innovative Technologies for Waste Recycling in the Green Steel Production Process.” This event showcased cutting-edge research and shared scientific and technical experiences, fostering a collaborative environment for stakeholders in the steel industry, including graduate students and researchers.
A significant highlight of the symposium was the recognition of Dr. Ehsan Dashtianeh, CEO of Saba Steel of the Persian Gulf, as the Steel Man of the Year in Iran. This prestigious title was awarded based on votes from leading figures in the Iranian steel industry. Dr. Dashtianeh was honored during the closing ceremony of the 26th Conference of Researchers in the Iranian Steel Industry.
Dr. Dashtianeh’s notable achievements include leading Saba Steel to the highest production growth rate in the steel industry for 2024, securing the largest capital supply in the history of the Iranian stock market for the Saba Steel Persian Gulf Direct Reduction Unit 2 project, increasing the production of hot briquettes from 800,000 tons to 1.2 million tons annually, and doubling the company’s net profit.
The symposium not only celebrated individual excellence but also emphasized the importance of sustainable practices and technological advancements in the steel industry, paving the way for a greener future.
