Tesla has announced its stainless steel supplier for its latest product, the Cybertruck.
Outokumpu Oyj will provide steel for the body panels of the new electric pickup truck. This is the first time since the DMC DeLorean in the 1980s that an automaker has decided to use stainless steel.
If the Cybertruck project is successfully completed, it could mark the beginning of a new trend. The vehicle is scheduled to go into mass production in the coming weeks and the company has 2 million reservations for this project. Cybertruck aims to offer groundbreaking design and features in the electric vehicle market, and the use of stainless steel is seen as an important step in achieving this goal.
