Tesla, which currently provides energy storage services with solar panels in the USA, will now sell electricity to Texas residents.
Tesla's application for certification for Tesla Energy Ventures company was accepted in the past months.
The company will now be a retail electricity provider and will be able to sell electricity to the local community.
There are currently more than 100 retail electricity providers in the market that the US company wants to be involved in.
Tesla serves as an energy supplier in many regions, especially in South Australia. The company also has a virtual power plant in California, which is currently under testing.
PLAN TO TURN HOUSES INTO POWER PLANT
Elon Musk, who made statements in the past months, announced that in the future he wants to turn every house into a power plant that will use the company's products to produce, store and even transmit energy back to the electricity grid.
As the reason for this, Musk stated that he attaches great importance to the project, especially showing events such as the big power cut in Texas last year.
The company has some advantages over other energy providers. Using solar energy and energy storage systems, Tesla ensures that subscribers are less affected by power cuts.
