Ternium predicts a 4.3% increase in Mexican steel consumption in 2023, compared to a 2.5% increase in April. The increase is due to investment and backflow activities in northern Mexico.
Mexico's steel industry association Canacero reported 28.1 million tons of steel consumption in 2022, with the Mexican manufacturing industry accounting for 66% of sheet metal demand. Despite increasing domestic demand, Mexico's import penetration rate remains high, accounting for 40% of total consumption.
