Italian equipment supplier Tenova and GE Power Conversion have recently formed a partnership to jointly develop state-of-the-art energy supply solutions using medium voltage energy converters for electric arc furnace (EAF) and submerged arc furnace (SAF) technologies.
To meet the need for technological advances in reducing CO2 emissions in the steelmaking process and the growing demand for larger electric arc furnaces, the two companies are joining forces to develop efficient energy supply systems for EAFs and SAFs. These innovative solutions will enable high electrical energy supply even in regions with limited electricity grids, reducing operating costs and minimising the environmental impact of both new and existing furnaces.
