Tenaris, one of the world's leading steel producers, is taking important steps in its sustainability efforts with a groundbreaking investment in solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation at its Qingdao plant in China.
The USD 1 million investment covers an area of 17,000 square meters and includes the installation of 2,246 monocrystalline silicon PV panels. The capacity is approximately 1.28 MW and the PV installation is expected to generate approximately 1.36 million kWh of clean electricity per year. This strategic move aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 850 metric tons per year.
This effort dovetails seamlessly with Tenaris' strategy to support global energy efficiency, exemplified by various initiatives such as the wind farms in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
