Tata Steel has awarded a contract to Danieli Corus for the addition of a fourth stove to its existing hot-blast systems in Jamshedpur and Meramandali. The goal is to increase operational and maintenance flexibility while increasing blast furnace production rates.
The existing systems, which have a working volume of 3230 m³ and a nominal daily production design of 8700 t of hot metal each, were commissioned in 2008, 2012, and 2014. The new stoves will be built in the space adjacent to the third stoves and will be equipped with the Danieli Corus "mushroom" dome, which allows for refractory expansion, ensuring exceptionally long life-times with Danieli Corus hot-blast stoves. The new burners will guarantee improved mixing efficiency and stability.
