Tata Power Renewable Energy, through its subsidiary TP Vardhaman Surya Ltd, has received a contract to build a 966 MW 24-hour hybrid renewable energy project for Tata Steel. In the statement made by the company, it was said that the project has hybrid renewable capacity of 379 MW of solar power and 587 MW of wind power.
With an annual crude steel production capacity (MnTPA) of 35 million tons, Tata Steel is one of the most geographically diverse steel producers in the world.
This project will meet a significant portion of Tata Steel's green energy requirements in India, saving 23,89,160 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
Tata Steel will invest 26% equity in the project. The project will be commissioned on 1 June 2025 according to the regulation.
With this project, Tata Power Renewable Energy's total renewable energy capacity reached 7,756 MW, 4,059 MW installed power (including 3,107 MW solar and 952 MW wind), and 3,697 MW at various implementation stages.
