According to Taiwan customs data, Taiwan's wire rod imports amounted to about 27,000 tonnes in May, up slightly by 15.3% from the previous month.
Among them, Vietnam was the main source of imports, increasing its supply to about 11,000 tonnes from 1,600 tonnes in April.
In the first quarter of this year, Taiwan's wire rod imports totalled around 98,000 tonnes. However, imports from April to May were only 50,000 tonnes. Market participants expect imports to decrease in the second quarter compared to the first quarter.
