Taiwan's stainless steel scrap market witnessed a notable trend in May, with a decrease in imports and a significant increase in exports. This development signalled weak market demand in the current period. Import prices continued to increase while export prices displayed a significant downward trend.
Imports of stainless steel scrap in Taiwan had decreased to as low as 4,400 tonnes in July last year. However, the import volume increased to 30,134 tonnes in five months, breaking the lowest and highest scrap import records of the past four years in the same year.
