Taiwan’s stainless steel mills set to increase prices

Taiwan’s stainless steel mills set to increase prices

Taiwan's stainless steel mills are expected to implement price hikes in June as a response to the escalating costs of raw materials. The surge in prices for essential metals such as copper, chromium, and nickel has necessitated these adjustments.

One significant factor contributing to this decision is the substantial increase in the European alloy surcharge, which has risen by over $150 per ton. This increase in the European market has had a ripple effect, influencing global stainless steel prices. Concurrently, Japanese stainless steel prices have also seen an upward trend, further pressuring Taiwanese mills to consider price adjustments.

Given these developments, Taiwanese stainless steel manufacturers are likely to raise their rates in June. This move aims to offset the increased expenses associated with procuring raw materials, ensuring the sustainability of their operations amid a challenging market environment.
