According to Taiwan statistics, Taiwan's scrap imports were around 239,000 tons in December last year, up 17% from the previous month.
Among them, the United States decisively became the largest source of Taiwan's scrap imports, supplying about 101,100 tons, up 55% m-o-m. Japan ranked second with 55,100 tons, followed by the Dominican Republic with 18,700 tons and Australia with 15,200 tons.
In terms of exports, Taiwan exported about 2,300 tons of scrap in December last year, down 13% m-o-m. In December 2022, India became the largest buyer, importing 550 tons of scrap from Taiwan.
