According to customs data, Taiwan imported about 195,000 tons of scrap in August, an increase of 0.1% from the previous month. Taiwan's top scrap import destination in August was the United States, up 9.33% from the previous month, reaching 98,400 tons. Imports from the Dominican Republic increased by 37.5% to 22,000 tons, while imports from Japan decreased by 47% to 18,000 tons. Japan ranked second in July, while the Dominican Republic rose to second place in August.
Taiwan exported about 9,500 tons in August. Thailand emerged as the primary source of supply with about 7,600 tons. Vietnam came in second with 1,700 tons. Exports to other countries were minimal.
