According to customs statistics, Taiwan imported 2 million tons of ferrous scrap in the first seven months of 2023, up 18.2% compared to the same period of 2022.
The imports from the US occupied the largest share, totaling around 748,100 tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%. Japan ranked second with 580,400 tons, a year-on-year surge of 94%.
In July alone, Taiwan’s ferrous scrap imports totaled approximately 285,000 tons, down by 4% month on month and up by 15% year on year.
