Taiwan's ferrous scrap imports reached about 215,000 tons in August, decreased 2% from July and 6% from August last year, customs data showed.
In the first eight months of 2024, Taiwan imported a total of about 2.04 million tons of ferrous scrap, reflecting an annually decreased of 10.5%. The United States remained the largest supplier, exporting around 857,000 tons of ferrous scrap, increased by 2% compared to the same period in 2023. In contrast, Japan, despite being the second-largest supplier, exported 444,000 tons, a 32% annually decrease.
