Taiwanese stainless steel producer Walsin Lihwa decided to increase export prices in September. In the domestic market, it kept the prices of 200, 300 and 400 series products unchanged, while keeping the surcharges for copper-containing and 316 series products unchanged. However, on the export side, it raised the base price of 300 series stainless steel products due to the appreciation of the Taiwan dollar.
The company noted that the increase in LME nickel and stainless steel scrap prices put pressure on steelmakers. Moreover, market analysts forecast that the US Federal Reserve is likely to cut interest rates and demand is expected to pick up in Europe as the summer holiday ends.
